ALL AUSTRALIAN FAMLIY OWNED BUSINESS FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS
Winter is upon us now and we are getting heaps of rain, more than we have seen in years. May had its biggest fall in ten years and June looks like it will break records as well. Now is a good time to give your home a full inspection. If you ignore your abode you could end up with major problems such as water damage inside and under your home. Check for poor drainage, broken roof tiles ,flashings around flues & chimneys, missing cement on ridge capping , rusty gutters & downpipes , clean out all gutters & valleys to remove debris eg.leaves & mulch . Check walls and floors for mould. Water running down the walls on the inside of your home is not only very upsetting and costly to repair, it is also dangerous . If it gets onto power points it can cause a fire.
In your garden inspect pavers & deckings for slippery moss .Dampn
ess from water pooling on your lawns or in gardens around the home can attract termites.
How do we go about solving these problems ? some of the tasks may need professional help eg. plumbers etc .
Roof tiles and metal roof repairs, pointing up ridge capping , replacing guttering, downpipes etc. must be performed by licensed tradspeople eg.specialist roof plumbers .
Installation of a quality leafscreen over guttering & valleys will stop leaves blocking your roofs drainage system & prevent vermin entering the roof cavity. It also helps to catch a larger flow of filtered clean water into rainwater tanks.
Blocked drains can be cleared using an electric eel which can be hired from Kennards or call a plumber who deals with drains .
Dampness! you may need to install better drainage around your home ie. dig trenches, install agro pipes and then fill with blue metal gravel .
Moss on pavers etc. can be cleaned using high pressure sprayers and chemicals.
